About Us
Our Company
For years, we dreamed of ways to help the bee population in a way that made sense with our lifestyle. Homeowner Associations and standard 9 to 5 jobs aren’t typically fond of beekeeping.
But we knew it didn’t stop there.
In a moment of, “if not now, when,” we decided it was time, HOAs be damned. Hive & Home was born from that question and passion. Our Earth is important to us, and we realized beekeeping was yet another way we could give back to it, and to our community, in the same way that bees give back to us.
Beekeeping became a goal, but we knew there was more we could do. Candles, beeswax wraps, and melts are just the push-off point for us. We have a dream to expand and push the limits of what we can do and are excited for the future of this company.
Kaitie
We are stewards of Earth and it’s our responsibility to care for it and our communities. My upbringing reinforced this idea that we have one planet and that we are here to care for it. Honestly, it was only a matter of time before I became obsessed with bees.
My life took a winding route to get there though. I graduated from Taylor University in 2016 with a bachelor's in publishing with the intention of becoming an editor. It's still a love of mine and I've been incredibly fortunate to edit as a freelancer, but after some soul searching, I decided I wasn’t making the change that I wanted to see in the world. A desire to help others manifested in a different way.
When I'm not researching and writing, creating products and designs for our company, or prepping orders to ship, I spend most of my time wrangling our two dogs and, occasionally, make time for books, movies and shows, and cozy video games. Otherwise, I'm in constant search of the perfect scone and coffee combo, which I haven't found yet but I hold out hope that I'll stumble into a coffee shop and discover gold.

While my wife is the brains behind Hive & Home, my experience in engineering and business makes me a calculated thinker and allows me to optimize our operations to make sure that we run efficiently as co-owner. And it lets me keep an eye on her so that she doesn’t spend all of our budget on coffee and beehives.
Working with bees, outside of the stinging, is a peaceful experience. We are able to do multiple things we enjoy because of beekeeping and our business, which is maintain local honey bee populations and combine our gifts and abilities while remaining independent of larger corporations. Though Hive & Home is currently a smaller operation, I look forward to the day that we can expand pollinators to other areas to help restore plant life and ecosystems, such as helping farmers with their crops and reforestation.
Outside of the business, I spend most of my time playing video games, working on my car or various engineering projects, or sleeping.
Stark and Luna
We mentioned dogs earlier, so here is Luna, the German shepherd, and Stark, the Siberian husky. This is the one time I could get them to sit still for some photos. It only happened because I had a slice of ham hanging above the camera.
They are integral to our production, as they provide comedic relief, emotional support after long days, and unconditional love (as long as there's treats involved).
Green Practices
Recyclable
From the supply chain to our own packaging, our company supports and enacts recycling practices. Our products are made with or shipped in cardboard, paper, bamboo, and glass products that can either be upcycled, composted, or recycled.
Compostable
Our beeswax wraps are tested and guaranteed products that you can compost in the comfort of your own home. We support green initiatives and products that help keep our Earth clean and growing and do so by contributing products that can be composted industrially or at home, and companies that support or practice composting.
Sustainable
At Hive & Home, we work to find suppliers who enact sustainable business practices. Our business model practices and supports sustainability in our workspace as well. From our production to supply chain, we work to make sure that our planet doesn’t have to work overtime to stay green.
Ethical
To provide you with the best quality without sacrificing upstanding business practices and ethically sourced materials, we sourced the best ways to keep our Earth greener for longer. We support livable wages, safe and ethical work environments, and clean harvesting of all our materials; without compromising quality or top dollar.
